Astros recall RHP Felipe Paulino, option RHP Sammy Gervacio to minors

The Houston Astros have recalled right-handed pitcher Felipe Paulino from the minor leagues so he can start Tuesday night's game against the San Francisco Giants.

Paulino will start in place of Astros ace Roy Oswalt, who is still feeling pain from an irritated disk in his back.

To make room on the roster Monday, Houston optioned right-hander Sammy Gervacio to Triple-A Round Rock.

The 25-year-old Paulino was optioned to Round Rock on July 15. He was 2-5 with a 7.04 ERA in 14 games with the Astros this season, including a 13-0 loss to the Giants on July 3.

Gervacio was recalled from Round Rock on Thursday, after Russ Ortiz was waived. Gervacio did not make an appearance before Monday's move.
