Red Sox activate OF Rocco Baldelli from DL; recall RHP Michael Bowden from Triple-A
The Boston Red Sox have activated outfielder Rocco Baldelli off the 15-day disabled list as they begin a weekend series against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox also recalled right-hander Michael Bowden from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday. Bowden will work out of the bullpen.
Baldelli was put on the DL on Aug. 6, a day after fouling a ball off his left ankle during batting practice.
To make room on the 25-man roster for Baldelli, the Red Sox designated right-hander Fernando Cabrera for assignment and optioned outfielder Brian Anderson to Pawtucket.
