Choo Shin-Soo, an outfielder with the Cleveland Indians, was reactivated by the Major League Baseball club on Friday after being sidelined July 3 with a right thumb sprain.
The 28-year-old South Korean suffered the injury in a game against Oakland, costing him a place on the American League squad in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Choo is hitting .286 with 13 home runs, 43 runs batted in, 48 runs scored, 48 walks and 12 stolen bases in 78 games.
To make room for Choo on the 25-man roster, the Indians put left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder fatigue.
Laffey is 2-3 with a 4.62 earned-run average over 25 games. He was moved into the starting rotation a month ago for the Indians, who at 40-55 are last in the American League Central division.
