DETROIT (Reuters) - Free-agent outfielder Johnny Damon has agreed to an $8 million, one-year contract with the Detroit Tigers, The Detroit Free Press reported on its website on Saturday.
The deal is dependant on Damon, who played for the New York Yankees last season, passing a physical, the newspaper said (http://freep.com). It also contains a no-trade clause.
Damon, 36, spent the past four seasons with the World Series champions after playing the previous four for the Boston Red Sox. He hit .282 last season with 24 home runs and 82 runs batted in.
