Boxing is back at Yankee Stadium.
Eager fight fans filed into the New York Yankees' second-year ballpark Saturday night for the first major boxing card in the Bronx since Muhammad Ali defeated Ken Norton at the old stadium in 1976.
The main attraction was a junior middleweight title fight between champion Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto.
Baseball and boxing were interspersed throughout the stands, with Yankees jerseys on sale next to Cotto and Foreman T-shirts. Puerto Rico jerseys and hats from the World Baseball Classic also were popular with native son Cotto in the main event.
Daniel Flores, a 29-year-old Army officer, wandered around Monument Park during the undercard. He says boxing's return to Yankee Stadium is "long overdue."
