Hart's 2-run homer with 2 outs in 9th lifts Brewers over Mets, snaps scoreless streak

Corey Hart ended the Mets' shutout streak at 35 innings with a game-winning homer in the ninth and Yovani Gallardo pitched his first career shutout in the Milwaukee Brewers' 2-0 victory over New York on Friday night.

Johan Santana pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing three hits in a super performance, but the Mets' bullpen couldn't keep up the string of zeros.

Ryota Igarashi (0-1) gave up a single to Ryan Braun with one out in the ninth, and Hart drove a pitch into the Brewers' bullpen with two outs for his 10th homer of the season and first game-ending shot. Hart flipped the bat knowingly as soon as he hit it, and the celebration was on.

Gallardo (5-2) had the best performance of his career, using his 94 mph fastball to get out of trouble late.
