KANSAS CITY (Reuters) - Kansas City will host the All-Star Game for the first time in 39 years when it stages the 2012 edition.
Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig told a news conference the game would be played at the Kauffman Stadium, home of the Royals team, on July 10, 2012.
Four years ago Selig said Kansas City would stage the All-Star classic between 2010 and 2014 if a tax referendum to fund renovations was passed.
The referendum went through and stadium improvements costing $275 million were completed last year.
