BOSTON (Reuters) - Boston slugger David Ortiz smacked a two-run home run and Japanese starter Daisuke Matsuzaka shook off a slow start as the Boston Red Sox came from behind to beat the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.
Trailing 3-0 in the first inning, Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run single and Ortiz's blast provided a 4-3 lead for the Red Sox who scored six straight times en route to a 6-4 win.
Matsuzaka, who shook off a rough first inning where he allowed three runs, completed 6 2/3 innings while striking out seven batters.
The Athletics (28-26) lost their second straight to Boston (31-23) despite a late pinch-hit home run from Kevin Kouzmanoff in the ninth.
