San Diego Padres purchase Gaudin's contract from Portland, designate De La Cruz for assignment
The San Diego Padres have purchased right-hander Chad Gaudin's contract from Triple-A Portland and designated right-hander Eulogio De La Cruz for assignment.
Gaudin agreed to a minor league contract with San Diego on April 12 after he was released by the Chicago Cubs. He made two starts at Portland, throwing 8 2-3 scoreless innings without factoring in a decision.
De La Cruz made three relief appearances this season, allowing two runs over 3 1-3 innings.
San Diego announced the moves before its game at Colorado on Monday night.
