NEW YORK (Reuters) - Andy Pettitte became just the third pitcher to win 200 games in a New York Yankees uniform as the left-hander helped lead his team to a 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Friday.

With the win, Pettitte joins Whitey Ford and Red Ruffing as the only other pitchers to record 200 wins in the pinstripes of the Yankees.

Pettitte, who began his career with the Yankees in 1995, struck out four Houston batters in 7 1/3 innings and improved his record to 8-1 on the season.

New York jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added another in the fifth after the Astros drew to within one in the second on a Tommy Manzella two-run double.

A sacrifice fly in the eighth inning off Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain pulled the Astros to within one run again but the Yankees held on for the win.

Pettitte also has 37 wins as a member of the Astros from 2004 to 2006.
