Yankees rally in eighth to avoid being swept by Jays

TORONTO (Reuters) - The New York Yankees rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to avoid a third straight loss to the Toronto Blue Jays with Sunday's 4-3 triumph.

Robinson Cano delivered the go-ahead two RBI single to put the Yankees ahead 4-2 after trailing 2-0 to start the inning.

Captain Derek Jeter hit an RBI double to start the charge and New York (35-22) tied the game by scoring on a wild pitch from reliever Scott Downs who was charged with the loss.

Toronto (33-25) starter Brandon Morrow struck out eight batters and held the Yankees scoreless through seven innings, but exited in the eighth after hitting lead-off batter Francisco Cervelli.
